The bit you don't want to talk about.
Maybe you're the one everyone leans on. The one who keeps things running, stays calm on the outside, and deals with it later. Except later never really comes, and the weight of it is starting to show.
Maybe you're snapping at the people you love. Shutting down when things get too much. Lying awake replaying conversations, second-guessing yourself, or wondering why you can't just get over something that happened years ago.
You've probably told yourself you should be coping better by now. That other people manage. That it's not bad enough to need help.
Coping isn't the same as living.
AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN CRISIS TO DESERVE SUPPORT.
THIS IS WHERE THINGS ACTUALLY CHANGE.
This isn't just talking for the sake of talking.
If you're carrying emotional overwhelm that won't shift, something that keeps showing up in your body and your relationships, or patterns you keep falling back into no matter how hard you try - therapy can help you understand what's going on and actually change it.
We get curious about where your patterns started, what's keeping them stuck, and what needs to shift. Then we work on it together, at your pace, with tools that make a real difference in your daily life.
Getting the support you need shouldn't feel this hard. This is the part where it gets easier.
PICTURE THIS.
Imagine...
Waking up and not immediately replaying last night's argument.
Going into a difficult conversation feeling steady rather than braced.
Understanding why you keep ending up in the same place - and actually being able to do something different.
This is what therapy can make possible. Not by talking until something shifts on its own, but by getting specific about what's driving the pattern and working on it directly.
IS THIS FOR YOU?
Difficulties I work with.
- Emotional overwhelm and difficulty managing intense feelings
- Trauma and its lasting effects on your body, relationships, and sense of self
- Relationship difficulties and repeating relational patterns
- Low self-worth, shame, and self-criticism
- Burnout, people-pleasing, and the pressure to hold it all together
- Anxiety and low mood
THERAPY THAT GOES BEYOND TALKING.
Three approaches. Each doing something different.
Yes, we talk. But this isn't about going over the same ground week after week hoping something shifts. I use three evidence-based approaches, each one doing a specific job.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
For processing trauma, shifting stuck emotional responses, and helping your body feel safe again. Particularly helpful if you're carrying things that talk therapy alone hasn't touched.
DBT
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Practical tools for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and improving relationships. I lead DBT services in the NHS and received the Association of Psychological Therapies Award for Excellence in DBT.
CAT
Cognitive Analytic Therapy
For understanding the relational patterns you keep falling into, where they started, and how to start doing something different.
WHAT TO EXPECT.
A warm, honest space where nothing is off limits.
- Evidence-based approaches that go beyond surface-level coping
- Someone who will sit with the hard stuff without rushing you through it
- Real tools you can use between sessions, not just insights that fade by Monday
- Sessions held at your pace - weekly or fortnightly, depending on what works for you
- No set number of sessions and no pressure either way
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING.
Real people. Real change.
I've noticed a real positive change in how I approach things.
"Nicola creates such a safe, calm, and non-judgmental space that made it easy for me to open up, even about very personal things I'd never spoken about before. She has helped me gain so much clarity and a better understanding of myself."
- Shannon
After a few sessions of EMDR, my fear is gone.
"She was so warm and supportive and set me at ease so quickly. Her recommended treatment was right on the money. I went to Dr Sutton for help regarding a previous medical trauma which was making me avoid certain tasks - and after a few sessions, my fear is gone."
- Laurence
Her kind and warm nature immediately puts you at ease.
"Nicola's support allowed me to understand and release a lot of issues that were holding me back. Her kind and warm nature immediately puts you at ease, allowing you to quickly feel comfortable enough to discuss difficult topics. I can't recommend her enough."
- Sam

BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS.
This isn't the kind of therapy where nothing happens between sessions.
You'll leave with things to notice, try, or reflect on. Nothing overwhelming - just enough to keep things moving.

GOT QUESTIONS?
Frequently asked questions.
Sessions are £110 for 50 minutes. I'm also registered with BUPA, AXA, and WPA if you'd like to use insurance. Check with your provider first to confirm your cover and any referral requirements.
Yes. I'm registered with BUPA, AXA, and WPA. If you're using insurance, check with your provider first to confirm your cover and any referral requirements.
Both. I'm based in Llanelli, West Wales for in-person sessions, and online sessions are held via a secure video platform. You can also mix and match depending on what works for you.
Most people start weekly, then move to fortnightly as things progress. We'll work out what feels right for you.
It depends on what you're bringing. Some people come for a focused block of sessions around a specific issue. Others stay longer to work through deeper patterns. There's no set number and no pressure either way.
If you're struggling and nothing you've tried on your own has shifted it, therapy is probably worth exploring. You don't need a diagnosis or crisis to reach out.
We start by understanding what's brought you here, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping to change. It's a conversation, not an interrogation.
No. You can book directly with me as a private client. If you're using insurance, your provider may give you a list of therapists to choose from, or you can request me specifically and ask your provider to authorise sessions with me. Either way, it's worth checking with your insurance company first to understand your cover and the process you need to follow.
That's what the free 15-minute consultation is for. No pressure, no commitment. Just a chance to ask questions and see how it feels.
Therapists and counsellors provide valuable support and typically train in one or two therapeutic approaches. Psychologists have doctoral-level training and are registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which means additional years of training in psychological theory, research, and clinical practice. I'm qualified to work with complex presentations including trauma, self-harm, and personality difficulties, and I'm trained in multiple therapeutic approaches. That said, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with whoever you work with.
